Having looked through a good number of this month's comp entries, I've noticed quite a few that might benefit from a little CC..... over exposure,  under expsure, focus not quite sharp etc, and  there's also a few where I (and it might be just me!) can't see any "perspective" there at all!  All these images seem to have had great praise too! I've refrained from saying anything, because when I have done in the past, people have had a go at me!!  Are people frightened of giving CC these days? Or are we not supposed to give CC on comp antries any more? I don't presume to be the world's best photographer or anything, but from listening to judges at my local camera club, (and having my own images pulled to pieces at times!), I've learned a lot about what makes a good image, and I'd like to pass this on!!

I'm a fool, I deleted the original post. Many of you have asked how Paul (Gwalion) took his Glass & Bottle shot on Fridays IHC. This is how I thought it was done.. http://diyphotography.net/crossing-over-to-the-dark-field-has-never-been... (EDITED since Paul said it wasn't) It's really easy, and cheap, to do. All you need is 4 pieces of card and a table lamp. Thats all I used for this pi below. Have a go, you know you want to. As done on Blue Peter, here's one I did earlier.. If you have a go, put the results here.

Hi all, I'm new to photography well dslr anyway, i have a fuji s1 pro, and a fuji s2 pro, i have started to get use to them and seem to be finding my way around them ok. been experimenting with the settings in manual and getting the odd good result well in my eyes anyway. Ok i need to know how to use a telephoto zoom lens properly, i can't seem to get it to zoom in all the way to the 210mm, i am useing a Tamron 80-210 F4-5.6 autofocus zoom lens. Any help on this would be great, thank you Rex

I am fairly new to serious photography. On a recent hike, I tried to take a photo of these beautiful white flowers (which were about 15 ft away from me) with my HS10, but I just couldnt get the flowers in focus. I think this happens when the object is very low contrast and the camera cant figure out what object to focus on. Is there some technique to focus on such objects? Thanks Vishnu

Hi friends of the MEMBER'S EXHIBITION GALLERY, this is the forth SPECIAL edition (already) parallel to Angie D's MEMBER'S EXHIBITION GALLERY. It is in no way meant as a replacement or alternative version of it, it is just an addition. The idea follows the ideas of the original gallery, the only difference being it is themed and will not be on a weekly basis. If there is some interest for this special version we will put it here every 4-6 weeks.   The theme is 'light'. Yes, the stuff that photography is all about. Think about it... A photo without light is nothing but what does light mean to your photos?   If you have ideas for future specials please simply add them to your entry, i will make a list and use themes from this list for next posts. The rules are the same as for the original: Following an idea by Jacquie Wilkes and the MEG run by Angie D this is the place where members can display one of their favourite themed photos for others to comment on in a special gallery. These specials will be run every 4-6 weeks with themes which come out the group of members which do take part in the special gallery. The Exhibition runs for a week and will be deleted next Wednesday evening. As with all Exhibitions chatter is frowned upon - silence whilst viewing, your thoughts can be expressed either in the member's Gallery or in the UK Chat forum under the appropriate thread http://www.myfinepix.com.mt/forum/8/290684 - you have to copy and paste the link into your browser to get back to the original thread. Any queries/comments/jokes please visit the information desk which will be found at the above address. For Exhibitors - one photo per week. The photo should be entered into your Gallery with a copy posted into this thread and a link back to the photo (not your whole Gallery or a blog) posted with it. Any queries as to 'How to' please ask at the information desk (Address above). I hope that folk will try to comment on the photos in this thread - many folk are not as well known as some and all the entries deserve to be viewed with enthusiasm and encouragement. It is a way for the hidden gems of this site to be viewed by other members. Could I also ask members who see a 'gem' whilst browsing the Gallery to ask the photographer to post it here. I think in the first instance if the member's contact button is activated then an email to ask the member to post the image. However this should not prevent gems you have seen from being brought to the notice of other members. We all love to see really great photos. Any that were posted recently can be re posted in this thread

Today i went out and bought a CSC (Compact systemcamera) from Samsung, the NX 11 model together with kit 18-55mm objective. Will order the 50-200mm when my wallet stops screaming (3 cameras in 4 months). Anyone experienced with this Camera? I read alot of reviews, tried it at a store and i got pleasantly suprised, smaller than a regular DSLR body but with the same features and specs as nikon/canon. The sensor is the same as in Canon 7D. Reviews arent all that mixed.. most of reviewers give the camera 8 out of 10. Photograhyblogg, ephotozine and so on. The thing that caught me the most is the i fn button and it's features, you press the button on the objective and can manually change everything from ISO, WB, Aperture etc with the zoomring. The main reason i bought it was because i needed a smaller camera but with changeable objectives. And ofcourse i know the manager so he knocked of $100 from the price aswell.

My HS20 stopped recording video so sent it for repair (2-4 weeks), unfortunately that means I have to dig out my very heavy DSLR stuff or not take photos for a month! not a happy chappy, specially when I had planned a zoo trip and a mountain tea trek trip tomorrow...my poor back! *sigh*     Regards Dean Competition entry: My Gallery: My Review: Most recent blog: Most recent article:

Has there been a change in the way this allotment is determined? Used to be it was a specific number of photos or pages, but in the last few months, as long as your monthly quota in a certain number of days (30?) had not been reached, you could keep on posting photos; last night, I received a message to the effect that my gallery was full and proceeded to delete a whole page of photos, but to no avail, I am still receiving the "full gallery" message. I would like to have some idea of how many photos I still need to remove and how the quota is detemined. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject? Thanking you in advance, Jocelyn
